St. Oliver's Parish Life

Dinner Club

Enjoy good food and great company!

The Dinner Club, at St. Oliver’s is a social ministry with the purpose of developing new acquaintances in a Christian setting.  While many of St. Oliver’s finest chefs are members, this is not a gourmet or competition group. Twice a year, interested parties meet in the parish center for a potluck dinner. Following the food and fellowship, names are drawn to form groups of three to four couples or SWORDS (single, widowed or divorced). After the drawing, the new groups meet and decide among themselves which member(s) will host the next meal and which elements of the meal, others will contribute.  The members will then  rotate  hosting a dinner  so at the completion of that season , each  group will have provided  all of the elements of a meal (appetizer, main  course, salad, wine, dessert). Those participating enjoy good food and develop fellowship among parishioners.
