Purpose
The St. Oliver Preschool is a tuition based, self-supporting, non-profit school responsible to the Pastor and the Parish Council.  It’s ministry is to provide the best conditions possible to promote each child’s mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical growth; to strengthen their capacity to establish healthy, and meaningful relationships with other children their own age; to find joy and satisfaction in creative work; and to respect themselves and others.  Each child’s religion and ethnic background are fully respected.

Classes
Classes are offered three (3) days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) for all ages.

The Two and Three-year-old classes meet from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each class day.

The four-year-old class meets Monday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

On Wednesday’s, children from the 4-year-old class bring their lunch for extended day.

Children must be 2, 3, or 4 years of age by September 1st to enroll in the program that school year.  We ask that all children in the 3 and 4-year-old classes be potty trained.

Extended Day Opportunity
On Wednesdays, the children enrolled in the three-year-old classes have the opportunity stay an additional hour, from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.  The preschool staff supervises all children staying for extended day.  All children participating should bring their lunch to preschool that day.   The tuition for each child in the 3-year-old class staying for extended day is $4.00 per extended day.

The cost of extended day is included in the tuition for all children in the 4-year-old class.

Music and Movement Classes
Music and movement is a time for children to sing and move around while strengthening their coordination, concentration, and memory.

Music and Movement class is provided for every class for 20-30 minutes every Wednesday.

Computer Lab
Computer lab is offered to children in the three and four-year-old classes.  We offer children the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the computer by playing fun and educational games and activities.

Children in the four year old class attend Computer lab every Wednesday morning.

Children in the three year old classes attend the computer lab every other Wednesday, beginning in October.

Daily Activities
Learning Centers:  Children move with guidance from one interest to another.  This encourages exploration, motor coordination, and dramatic play.  Reading and math readiness skills are developed with the use of different games and activities.

Art activities:  Children use crayons, scissors, paper, paint, glue and other art materials often making a craft that reinforces a unit of study.

Free play:  A time that encourages socialization, role-play, and independent decision-making.

Clean-up:  Children learn to be responsible for their own environment.

Snack time:  A time to practice good table manners and learn about good nutrition.

Group time:  A time to improve listening and thinking skills while exploring Language, Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Music.

Physical Education:  Indoor and outdoor playground activities designed to promote gross motor coordination.
