Prayerful Activities
Pray that all human life will be respected and protected.
- Pray and/or fast regularly with your family for an end to abortion and euthanasia.
- Join the respect-life rosary on Thursdays immediately following the 9 a.m. Mass at St. Oliver’s.
- Participate in the St. Oliver’s Eucharistic Adoration on First Fridays
- Join in the rosary, which is prayed every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. across the street from the Northside Women’s Clinic at Chamblee/Dunwoody Road. Call Larry Schauer at 770-438-9515 or Larry@yam.org
- Spiritually adopt a pre-born child in danger of abortion. Name and intercede for the child for nine months.
- Join the Life Chain prayer hour in October. Watch the church bulletin.
- Sign up for the St. Oliver's Traveling Image of Our Lady of Gaudalulpe, and pray for a culture of life.
Pastoral Activities
Join in Parish and community
groups involved in efforts to protect the lives of all, born and
unborn.
- If you have a talent you would like to share with the Respect Life
Ministry, contact Sybil Lancour at (770) 736-1678.
- Donate baby items or volunteer at the Pregnancy Resource Center of
Gwinnett. Call (770) 338-1680 or www.PRCG.org.
- Support the Respect Life programs at St. Oliver's Church and Georgia Right to Life.
- Befriend an elderly or chronically ill shut-in. Call St. Oliver’s Christian Service Ministry at (770) 979-2500.
- Help make layettes with St. Oliver’s Loving Stitches.
Education
Become well informed and communicate your
information and concern to others.
- Subscribe to respect-life periodicals, listed below.
- Check out Respect
Life books, videos, and audiotapes in the church media-center.
- Pick up
the free literature in the pamphlet rack in the lobby by the family center.
- Witness to others via "Precious Feet" pins, bumper stickers, etc.
They are conversation starters.
- Attend a Natural Family Planning class. Contact Lynn Crutchfield, Office
of Family Concerns, Archdiocese of Atlanta, 404-885-7450, or call 404-888-7819
for a recording of the current class schedule.
- Call the Archdiocese Pro-Life Office of Atlanta, 404-888-7821, for
speakers and reference material.
- Read and share St. Oliver's Respect Life Newsletter found in the
Bulletin each month.
- Attend the Georgia Right to Life Convention in October.
Public Policy
The right to life itself is the
foundation for realizing aft other rights. Encourage legislators and candidates
for public office to represent your views.
- Write or call your federal and state legislators to keep them informed of
your views on life issues. If you do not know who your representative is, call
Voter Registration at 770-822-8787.
- Participate in the "Together for Life" Rally at the state Capitol each
January 22nd, and the Mass for the Unborn preceding it. Watch the
Georgia Bulletin for details.
- Stay informed on pending legislation: Call the National Right to Life
Legislative Hotline in Washington, D.C. at 202-393-LIFE. Or call the Georgia
