Respect Life Ministry

40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life national campaign with a vision to build up a culture of life through prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil at abortion clinics and community outreach.

We at St. Oliver’s have an opportunity to participate in this Campaign along with other churches in our area to pray and be witnesses for life at the Planned Parenthood Clinic in Lawrenceville every Tuesday and Saturday during this campaign period.

You can take part in this individually or involve your ministry to come out as a group to pray the Rosary on one of the Saturdays.

Contact Mary Hayes at 770 853 1756 or email at  for more information.

Spiritual Adoption Development  -  Month One (May 6)

This has been a very busy month for me.  I have grown from a single cell to 10,000 times my size and now I am about one inch tall.  Everything about me was determined from the moment of fertilization by my very own genetic code, my eye color, gender, intelligence, and even my shoe size.  All within this first month I have established the foundation of my brain, spinal cord and nervous system.  My heart began to beat.  My backbone and muscles have begun to form. My arms, legs, eyes and ears have begun to show.  A lot has gone on by the time you become aware of me. Check out my picture on the poster near the family center.

Thanks for your commitment to pray for me and for my parents. Our Lady of Guadalupe is interceding for me too and I’m excited about having so much support.  I’ll update you on my development in next month’s bulletin.

Spiritual Adoption Development  -  Month Two (June 3)

“I can suck my thumb now!”  I am now called a ‘fetus ‘, which is Latin for ‘Little One’.  I am making rapid progress developing my external and internal organs.  My baby teeth are forming, and you can see my fingers, toes ears, nose, lips and tongue.  My brain waves can be recorded and my skeleton is changing from cartilage to bone.  By 8 weeks all my body systems are present.  I am about 2 inches big.  You can see my picture on the bulletin board by the family center. Thank you for your prayers!  Many of you have committed to praying for me and I am so grateful.  Please continue.

Spiritual Adoption Development  - Month Three (July 8)

Guess what I can do!  I’ve learned to grab my hand today and I can grasp tightly anything that is placed in the palm of my hand.   I have my very own fingerprints, fingernails and toenails.  When I’m not sleeping I am exercising my muscles, turning my head, curling my toes and opening and closing my mouth.  I’m three inches big and you should check out the size of my feet.  Wow, am I having fun in here! Thanks again for praying for me. Mom is feeling pretty tired these days. Please pray for my parents too

Spiritual Adoption Development -  Month Four (August 5)

By the end of this month, I will be nine inches and weigh one-half pound or more.  I’ve closed my eyes and they won’t open until my seventh month in this nice cozy place.  I’m starting to hear noises.  I especially like to hear my mother’s voice and her heartbeat.  They are so soothing.  Sometime she sings to me.   I heard her say that she can feel me moving now.  I think she likes that.  I also had a dream today, a happy dream about my mother’s voice.  I can make facial expressions, and fine hair is growing on my head.  I wonder what I look like.  Thank you for your prayers.  Sometimes mama sounds very upset and I think she needs to know that God loves her.  Will you pray for her every day?

Spiritual Adoption Development - Month Five (September 9)

Mommy felt me kick today!  I’m big (12 inches) and strong enough to kick, especially when a loud noise startles me.  I wonder what all those sounds are.  Some are soothing; some make me jump.  I like to stretch when I wake up from my nap.  This month marks the halfway point to birth.  Babies born at this stage of development (19-20 weeks) are surviving at an increasing rate, thanks to advances in medical

Spiritual Adoption Development - Month Six (October 7)

I rolled over today. I am working out in my own personal gym.  My oil and sweat glands are functioning and I am working up a ‘sweat’ in here.   I have a special ointment called ‘vernix’, a white filmy layer that covers me and protects my delicate skin from the amniotic fluid.  This waxy substance will be quickly absorbed into my skin soon after I am born.   I sure do like this special place. Thank you for praying for me and for my parents.

Spiritual Adoption Development - Month Seven (November 11)

It's beginning to get a little cramped in here!  I'm moving less because I almost fill up all of the space in your womb. It's time to stand on my head, in the head down position.  You'll feel my feet against your rib cage.  I'm all curled up with arms, legs and knees bent…and you think you're uncomfortable!  I'm 16" inches and weigh about 3 LBS.  My heart rate increases when I hear your voice. Thank you for your prayers.

Spiritual Adoption Development - Month Eight (December 9 )

I really like listening to my mommy’s voice.  I’m gaining weight and my skin is beginning to thicken with a layer of fat that will keep me warm after I am born.  I’m getting bigger, about 18 inches now.  Antibodies are building up in me and will help protect me.  My lungs are fully developed and capable of making the transition to breathing air.  I absorb a gallon of amniotic fluid per day; the fluid is completely replaced every three hours.

God has waited throughout eternity for me to come into being and fulfill the love He has for me. How fantastically wonderful it all is.  Thank you for all your prayers during these months of development in my mother’s womb.  Come and celebrate my birth next month.

Spiritual Adoption Development - Month Nine (January 6)   Thank you for your prayers!

Month 9 - Toward the end of this month, I am ready to be born.  The average duration of pregnancy is 280 days; my weight is around 6 to 9 pounds and my heart is pumping 300 gallons of blood per day.  I am fully capable of life outside my mother’s womb. Thanks to your prayers, I have been safe and warm here with my mom.  I am convinced that God must have had a reason for me to be here. He must have a specific job for me that no one else can do.  He must have a plan for me….a special purpose just for me.  I don’t understand it all right now, but I know that it is true.  O Lord, help me to know your desire for my life.  Show me your plan and your purpose.  Make your will known to me and help me to fulfill it.  I want to be the special person you created me to be.
